Natural England River Camel NVC Survey
We undertook a lovely piece of botanical work recently for Natural England – surveying a large part of the River Camel Valley and Tributaries Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Area of Conservation (SAC) a site of outstanding importance to wildlife in Cornwall.
Our work focused on carrying out habitat surveys in accordance with the National Vegetation Classification (NVC) along the River Allen, a tributary to the River Camel in order to provide baseline information to Natural England on the habitats for which the site is notified. We surveyed a range of habitats including woodland, mire and grassland communities and produced reports and digitised the habitats. The information will be used by Natural England to monitor the effectiveness of current and future management practices and restoration measures within the SSSI/SAC.
