Burton Reid was commissioned by Aggregate Industries UK Limited to act as project ecologist for several sites related to the North East Bridgwater Development, in Somerset. Burton Reid undertook several pre-construction surveys, including extensive surveys for Water Vole. We also provided construction phase recommendations and undertook ecological watching briefs during the construction phase.

When Water Vole presence was confirmed unexpectedly on site immediately prior to construction, we were able to understand the urgency of the situation and provide pragmatic, project specific recommendations and advice to the client. We rapidly produced a Water Vole Mitigation Strategy through close site liaison, leading to renewed progress on site.
