The challenge
A strategic land site at Warren Wood was allocated for a phased, housing-led masterplan requiring an ecological strategy that embedded Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) from the outset, while providing clarity to planners, design teams, and stakeholders.
Our solution
Burton Reid Associates delivered early ecological support, completing baseline habitat assessments, UKHab classification, and protected species surveys. We developed a BNG feasibility strategy across multiple phases, identifying potential BNG zones, green infrastructure integration, and supported layout optimisation to maintain ecological continuity across interphases.
Outcome
Our input enabled confident masterplanning, reducing future planning risks, and ensuring a joined-up ecological approach for a multi-phase, multi-year delivery programme.
