Meet Jenni

Jenni Reid CEnv MCIEEM

Founder & Director

Jenni Reid is founder and director of Burton Reid Associates, an award-winning ecological consultancy specialising in the provision of highquality ecological services

She is a Chartered Environmentalist and a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management (CIEEM). Jenni is also an Approved Building with Nature Assessor and a panel member of Design South West.

She has published articles on green infrastructure in CIEEM In Practice (September 2019) and for the Society for the Environment “Greening the Industrial Strategy” which was delivered to Ministers. In 2019 Jenni was shortlisted for “Environmental Professional of the Year” Society for the Environment. Burton Reid Associates have been awarded “Highly Commended” Small Consultancy of the Year CIEEM Award in both 2019 and 2022 and Commended in 2024

Ella Dangerfield

Senior BNG Ecologist

Ella Dangerfield is an Ecologist with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science with Professional Training.

Specialising in botany, she holds a level 3 FISC certificate and focuses her skills on habitat surveys using the UK Habitat Classification, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) calculations and strategies. In the context of BNG, she has trained and experience in MoRPh Pro river surveys and River Condition Assessments. She is experienced in conducting Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, including scoping for protected species and in conducting National Vegetation Classification surveys. She is also competent at surveying for a range of protected species, such as bats and reptiles.

Finance Manager

Julie is AAT qualified and has many years’ experience in all things financial / business related. Her vast knowledge has been gained from working for large companies like Gillette UK Ltd and Red Paddle Co to small businesses including wholesalers, engineering firms and presently for Burton Reid Associates.

Julie is a hands on person who enjoys getting involved and learning everything about the company she is working for.

Julie is proficient in CRM systems and many financial software packages with a broad knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Chrissy Mason

Lead Planning & Technical Ecologist

Chrissy Mason MCIEEM is a qualified planning ecologist with over 20 years’ professional Environmental Management experience within the public, private and charity sectors.

Posts include positions with Hertfordshire Countryside Management Service, Dartmoor National Park Authority and Devon County Council. Chrissy holds a Masters in Ecological Impact Assessment (Distinction) specialising in planning ecology including Habitats Regulations Assessment with previous experience and a continued interest in community engagement, green infrastructure and protected landscapes. Chrissy also has a life- long passion for projects connecting people to their natural environment to improve physical and mental wellbeing.

Tamsyn Bridger

Meet Tamsyn

Tamsyn Bridger

Senior Ecologist

Tamsyn has been working in ecological consultancy for over 11 years, having previously also worked for the Wildlife Trusts. During her time in consultancy, she has been involved in a wide range of projects including both small and large scale housing developments, commercial redevelopments and renewable energy schemes. She specialises in project management and co-ordinates the ecology team project programme, working with our finance manager to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget. She produces Ecological Impact Assessment reports and is frequently a first point of contact for clients regarding new projects. She has extensive experience in protected species surveys including reptiles, bats, great crested newts and badgers as has coordinated mitigation works relating to reptile translocations.

Tamsyn is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management and holds a Level 1 Class Licence for great crested newt.

Imogen Mathews

Imogen Mathews

Professional Ecologist

Imogen Mathews is an Ecologist with a BSc (Hons) in Zoology and a focus on Bat Ecology.

Specialising in bat ecology with a strong focus on protected species survey work. Hold a Level 1 bat licence and experienced in a wide range of bat surveys, including activity, emergence, re-entry, and hibernation surveys (as an accredited agent). Skilled in assisting with EPSL applications and the development of mitigation strategies.

Experienced in conducting Preliminary Ecological Appraisals with a focus on scoping for protected species, and competent in a range of protected species surveys, including bats, nesting birds and reptiles, with associated reporting.

Erica Chivers

Professional Ecologist

Erica Chivers is Professional Ecologist with a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences and a focus on protected species. She is trained in conducting a range of protected species surveys, including bats, birds, reptiles and dormice, as well as experience in assisting with Phase 1 / UKHab assessments. Erica is also skilled in the analysis of bat sound and video data, writing technical reports and assisting with EPSL applications.

Tom Bonser

Gradate Ecologist

Tom Bonser is a Graduate Ecologist with MSc Plant and Fungal Taxonomy, Conservation, and Biodiversity, with skills in plant identification and ecological survey methods. His training includes international field courses in biodiversity hotspots and postgraduate research in biodiversity and taxonomy.

Before joining Burton Reid Associates, he worked as a wildlife equipment specialist, gaining practical knowledge of habitat mitigation measures, ecological monitoring equipment, and emerging analysis software. At Burton Reid Associates he is developing his ability in UKHab classification, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, and ecological reporting, alongside practical fieldwork in bat and reptile surveys.
