We are extremely excited to have been engaged by the Totnes Community Development Society (TCDS) as project ecologists on the former Dairy Crest site in Totnes. After many years of patient work by the TCDS the site has recently been secured on behalf of the community of Totnes, who will now determine the future of the site via the Atmos Tones project.

The Atmos Totnes project has 6 Key Elements and these are detailed on the Atmos Totnes website http://atmostotnes.org/vision/6-key-elements/ in short these comprise the following elements:

1. owned and managed as a community enterprise
2. carbon neutral development
3. complement and improve the prosperity of other organisations
4. an inspiring place to work, learn, live and relax
5. establishing a meaningful connection with this historic town
6. financial viability

TCDS engaged Burton Reid to undertake an ecological appraisal of the site, collaborate during the design phases of the proposals and to establish appropriate mitigation and biodiversity enhancements on the site. We are extremely excited to be involved with this project, not least because it aligns with our own company and personal philosophies of a holistic approach towards development. Working alongside the community, local companies and with the TCDS provides everyone with an extraordinary opportunity to do something completely different and really special for the whole community.
