Hinkley Point C and Associated Development – Cannington Bypass
EDF Energy were granted Development Consent by the Secretary of State for Hinkley Point C and Associated Developments. Construction of a new bypass for the village of Cannington, Somerset forms part of these associated developments. The delivery of the Cannington Bypass is being undertaken by Aggregate Industries (UK) Limited who are acting as Principal Contractor for the project.
Burton Reid have been working alongside the principal contractor and EDF Energy as Site Consultant Ecologists. As site consultant ecologists we are in a position to help ensure that all biodiversity commitments relating to the development consent order are being met. Numerous protected species were identified prior to the construction phase and mitigation secured to ensure no net biodiversity loss is complex and detailed.
Burton Reid have been involved with securing protected species licenses, performing Ecological Clerk of Works during site activities and providing ongoing advice to the principal contractor. Our aim, to ensure all necessary protection of biodiversity while understanding the situation on site and delivering a knowledgeable, common sense approach to get works moving.
