The challenge

An 18.4-hectare site allocated for up to 240 homes needed baseline ecological evidence to inform future outline planning proposals.

Our solution

We carried out a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal and multiple targeted species surveys across the seasons, drawing on existing data from previous phases. We also supervised a reptile relocation and demolition works under a Bat Licence.

Outcome

Our reports supported a Highways access planning application and established a clear, defendable ecological baseline for future proposals, ensuring compliance with Torbay’s biodiversity priorities and the National Planning Policy Framework.
