The challenge
The University needed to understand and future-proof the biodiversity value of its 200-hectare operational farm and historic estate, while planning for long-term expansion.
Our solution
We undertook UKHab classification, condition assessments, and detailed QGIS mapping of the site. Using the DEFRA BNG Metric, we calculated baseline biodiversity units and identified opportunities for meaningful habitat enhancement.
Outcome
The University now has a clear, strategic framework for achieving measurable biodiversity uplift across the estate, aligned with national BNG policy.
