Fieldwork Spotlight: Badger Surveys in Action

I had meant to share this video back in February (peak badger survey season!), but I’ve been absolutely flat out supervising works on an amazing heritage bat site, more on that soon.

For now, here’s a little insight into how we carry out badger surveys.

Personally, I love badgers. They’re incredible animals — resilient, social, and wonderfully particular about how they live. Their setts are kept remarkably clean: they air out their bedding and even use designated latrines. Their social structures are complex, they’re tenacious, and honestly… they’re just brilliant.
