Fancy seeing some of what we’ve been up to?

Oct 6, 2025

If you fancy seeing some of what we’ve been up to on site, grab a cup of tea and watch this short video.

Today I’m talking through the transition between different roof sections on this complex site. One section has remained untouched so far due to a large maternity roost of lesser horseshoe bats. Now that the maternity season has finished, we’re preparing the completed attic space so it’s ready to receive the bats for their winter hibernation.

Once that space is finalised, we can move the bats across and complete the full structural repairs to the main attic roof over the winter months — before opening it back up in time for next year’s maternity season.

This phased approach has been carefully planned and agreed with Natural England under their discretionary advice service, given the complexity of the site and the fact the bats use the roof throughout the year.

And, in other exciting news, we found a grey long-eared in exactly the same roosting spot as last year!
